What makes this piece stand out is the rare double signed dial for Cargills Ltd, Ceylon — a scarce retailer signature seldom seen on Rolex from this period.
The watch features a warm, original dial with attractive, even patina and applied Arabic numerals. The blued hands and sub-seconds at 6 complete the classic pre-war / early post-war aesthetic Rolex is known for.
Powered by a correct manual-wind Rolex movement (15 rubies), signed and in good condition.
The stainless steel Oyster case remains strong with well-defined lines and a clean screw-down caseback. Inside caseback correctly signed “Oyster Watch Co Geneva”.
Overall an extremely charming and increasingly hard to find early Rolex with true character.
